The man, who had been hit by a pickup truck, died in hospital on Wednesday night. The fatal crash had taken place on Tuesday night in the East Garfield Park neighborhood.

The victim was crossing a street around 8 p.m., when he was struck by a Dodge Ram. The man named Cayode Fornize had been admitted at Mount Sinai Hospital after being hit by the pickup truck near Pulaski Road and Van Buren Street.

Cayode Fornize, who lives in the 2500 block of East 81st Street, was admitted at Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition.

According to Cook County medical examiner's office, the 33-year-old victim was declared dead at 8:56 a.m. at Mount Sinai Hospital.

The 38-year-old driver of the pickup truck has been charged for failing to yield to a pedestrian, driving the pickup with a suspended license and for not having an insurance.
